Weight Loss Diets - A Review Of 4 Popular Diets

1000 calorie diet

Trying the 1000 calorie diet is only advisable for one week, due to your body entering starvation mode and conserving fat. The 1000 calorie diet can be used as a starter diet for a long term weight loss program. Try to aim for 2-3 pounds of weight loss and a good exercise program to begin with. After 1 week on the 1000 calorie diet, try upping your calorie intake or reverting back to a not so severe diet, this will prevent your bodys metabolism from slowing down. Here is a simple 1000 calorie daily menu.

Breakfast
Banana sandwich made with 2 slices of wholemeal bread and a small banana
Small glass of orange juice

Snack
1 pot of low fat yoghurt (preferably fruit)

Lunch
1 wholemeal roll filled with tuna and low fat mayonnaise (use tin tuna in spring water)

Broccoli (all vegetables steamed or boiled)
Carrots
Gravy (made from granules)

Evening
1 low calorie hot chocolate drink made with powder and water

drinks throughout the day

The 1000 calorie diet can be used as a starter diet for a long term weight loss program. Try to aim for 2-3 pounds of weight loss and a good exercise program to begin with. Remember after 1 week on the 1000 calorie diet, try upping your calorie intake or reverting back to a not so severe diet, this will prevent your bodys metabolism from slowing down.

The Kelloggs Cereal diet

One of the simplest diets around at the moment is the Kelloggs Cereal Diet. It is not a crash weight loss diet which will lose you pounds upon pounds; however it will allow you to get into those jeans that are 1 size to small.

To start the Kelloggs diet all you have to do is, eat one bowl of Kelloggs Special K or Cornflakes for breakfast, and also one for a replacement lunch or dinner. Thats all! Carry this on for two weeks then you will see the results. Expect to lose around 3-6lb.

Whist on your diet, Kelloggs allow you to have the same drinks and snacks as you usually would, but recommend that you eat a well balanced meal every day, with more fruit and vegetables. Another tip from Kelloggs, is to keep a food diary to monitor and keep you aware of your current eating habits.

Christmas PS3 Blues

Patience is a virtue, and you're going to have to be pretty virtuous if you're one of the millions of UK PlayStation Fans awaiting the arrival of the PS3. As if it wasn't bad enough we had to rewrite our letters to Santa this year (because it now won't hit our shelves until March), we're also all going to be green with envy as the web fills up with the usual reviews, cheats, and walkthroughs etc from sites in the States where they will get their hands on the console from November 17th.

Personally, my patience (lost my virtue a long time ago) ran out already, and my craving for HD gaming led me to the xbox 360. I suspect many others will do the same this Christmas and I don't blame you. To not release the most hyped console of all time for Christmas has got to be the craziest decision Sony has made (apart from the choice of software packed with their MP3 Walkman - but don't get me started on that one). It can't even be based on format because the PS3 will be region free, and you can play any PS3 game on it no matter what part of the world you bought it from.

If you do decide to cut your losses and go for the xbox 360 you won't be disappointed, I certainly haven't been. But you should be aware that in their hurry to steal the HD gaming market, microsoft left a couple of jobs as 'work in progress'. Although the list is growing, the xbox 360 still only plays a handful of original XBOX games. If you're starting afresh that?s fine, but if you've got a hefty back-catalogue of xbox titles you were planning to play then that?s a real bummer. Backwards compatibility was a target that simply wasn't reached in time for release and early release was obviously of greater importance to microsoft than it appears to be for Sony.

However, if you're a PlayStation purist, or simply do not fancy the xbox 360 or the nintendo Wii, then your virtue will be well rewarded. Although I find it difficult to understand some of Sony's business decisions, I can fully understand the hype surrounding the PS3. It will be without doubt the most powerful domestic games console available, boasting the 'Cell' processor, twelve times faster than processors found in top range PC's. The PS3 will also offer 'Blue-ray' technology which Sony are heavily promoting to take over from dvd, as well as offering free 'out of the box' online gaming (broadband connection required).

All of this extra 'oomph' inevitably comes at a cost, and you should expect to pay more for the prestige of owning such a machine. You'll also need to keep an eye on game prices too from November and compare them to its rivals, afterall there is no point owning the thing if you have to rob a bank every time you want something to play on it. On the plus side it will play any ps2 or PS1 titles you have tucked away.

Whatever you decide, have a happy Christmas, and keep on gaming !

In Kenya Safari At Kicheche Mara Camp

Kicheche Mara Camp is a classic luxury camp in a private area in the bush just outside the Masai Mara, and Kicheche is not a place everyone has heard of for your Safari holiday in Kenya.

This gives it an immediate advantage, because one of the problems on a safari to the Masai Mara seems to be the fact that there are other people on safari as well, and wherever you go, they seem to turn up as well.

The Kicheche Mara Camp is well hidden amongst Euclea and African Olives, in an area well known for its prolific wildlife, so you need to be aware that as it is a camp, there are no walls or fences, so animals can and do pass through the camp, so your game viewing starts from the camp itself.

In terms of how you will eat and sleep under these circumstances, then the answer is extremely well, if a little rustically.

It is a canvas bush camp with eleven spacious east African style tents which look out onto the grassy plains. Kicheche Mara Camp uses alternative sources of energy like solar power and candlelight which adds to its rustic appeal. It would be fair to warn you that if you need the mod cons of a lodge then perhaps Kicheche may not be for you.

Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with a safari bucket type of shower. This probably means the water will be heated in the early evening over a fire, to be ready for your return from an evening Game Drive. This means your evening shower will be jolly hot, as you pull the chain that releases the water, but in the morning you should be prepared for a much cooler experience.

If however your concern is having to walk around an open camp at night to visit the bathroom, and risk being eaten by a lion, you have no cause to worry, as everything you need will be in your tent!! The en-suite private bathrooms have a central dressing area and separate compartments for shower and toilet.

In any case the staff of Kicheche will not allow you to leave your tent at any time without an escort because wild animals have the right of way at all times!!

Outside your tent is a veranda with comfortable canvas chairs, and hammocks slung beneath the trees.

There is a noisy nightlife, but it is the African Bush!!

Although there is a dining tent, most meals are eaten outdoors, and there is a separate communal tent called the Nyati tent with comfy chairs, a great place to relax at the end of the day with a small library of reference books.

Game drives are with Kicheches experienced guides in 4x4 open topped Landcruisers which give you an unprecedented often close-up view of the incredible Masai Mara wildlife. If you go between July and october wildebeest and zebra are on the move, migrating from the adjoining Serengeti. This of course brings in large numbers of lions, leopards and cheetahs, who prey on the weak and the young

Walking safaris are also available, and offer a different perspective of the Reserve.

Kicheche Mara Camp is an ideal safari destination for a Kenya safari holiday
